Last night I had the honour of being part of the Leader Bike and Us Versus Them custom frame art show “Aerosol & Aluminum”, in San Diego.
A few months ago, 15 or so artists got a Leader bike frame and were asked to customise them however they liked.
I, however, was added to the roster 2 days before the show….no pressure
But I’d never been part of an art show before and Matt Lingo at Leader bikes is a good friend, so I was really stoked to get involved.
So I did my signature “doodling” style of paint work on the frame.
But it was harder than I thought.
You can’t sketch on the frame, pencil doesn’t show up and the paint isn’t very forgiving if you make a mistake. Once it’s on there, it’s on there!
So I had to one-time free-hand the whole bike frame…no pressure.
I was just happy to be involved and have a piece among some other artists, like Honkey Kong, who I really respect.
And it was really fun challenging myself with a medium I’m not used to.
So here are some images from the show, if you didn’t make it out last night.
Thanks so much to Matt Lingo for getting me involved, thanks to James at Us Versus Them and to Leader for putting on the show.
I look forward to more events like this in the future!
